Small releases, often, and all of them written down

Filamental ships when something is ready rather than on a calendar, which in practice has meant a release every few days. These are the notes the application itself shows you, published here unedited, so what you read before updating is what you read after.

You are probably already on the latest one

The application checks for new versions itself and updates in place on Windows, macOS and Linux. There is nothing to subscribe to, no separate updater, and no release you have to go and fetch by hand. If you installed through the Microsoft Store or a package manager, that channel updates you instead and can sit a version behind for a day or two.

The current release is v0.3.38, from 29 August 2026. Releases before 30 July 2026 were logged as short internal notes rather than written up, and they stay on GitHub Releases with every build attached.

Current
  • Three new Templates for founders: Fundraising Round, Grant Programme and Company Formation. A raise has a shape of its own, several funds and grant bodies asking overlapping questions, milestones that gate each other, and documents that have to exist before a term sheet can close. It gets its own starting structures now rather than being bent into a project plan. Sixty-four Templates
  • The AI connection’s version-mismatch message sent you to an address that has never existed. It now points at the download page. If you ever saw that message and found nothing at the other end, that was why

v0.3.37

  • Every Upgrade button now opens the pricing page. All of them pointed at an address that has never existed, so anyone who clicked one got a "page not found" and the only way through to a checkout was Settings, then Account. That includes the Upgrade button in the toolbar, the one on the Publisher, the one in the feature notice and the one on the read-only banner

  • Filamental has a new look. The mark, the wordmark and the colours are the same ones the website uses, so the app and the site finally agree on what the product looks like
  • The wordmark in the toolbar now reads filamental over .space on two lines, so a screenshot you share carries the web address with it
  • A new interface theme, Precision. Light cool grey, square corners, no shadows, and red used sparingly and only where something needs pointing at
  • The brand is drawn rather than typeset now, so it stays sharp at any size and does not wait on a font to load. On the darker themes it switches to a lighter ink and a lighter red so it stays readable
  • New app icon, on all platforms. The old one was still the previous identity
  • Settings: "Node Font" is now "Graph Font", because it sets the connector labels as well as the node cards. "Node cards" and "Connector labels" now say "width", which is what they actually change, and "Inherit" is now "Match UI"
  • Settings: the font picker shows each font’s name at a readable size and drops the "Aa" underneath it. Every name is already written in its own font, so the sample was saying the same thing twice
  • Gruppo no longer looks greyed out in the font pickers. It was being asked for a weight it does not have, so it fell back to its lightest one and looked switched off next to the others. Cardo had the same problem
  • The buttons along the bottom of the graph sit properly now. The insert and connector group is centred on the screen rather than wherever the groups either side happened to leave it, and the export buttons have moved to the right
  • The Filamental mark on the graph no longer sits behind the buttons in the bottom right corner
  • The first card of the welcome tour is centred again. It had been sitting low and to the right

  • The interface font is now IBM Plex Sans, the same face the website uses. The other nine are still there in Settings
  • The notes panel in the Space Studio follows your interface font. It had been pinned to one fixed face whatever you picked, because the editor it is built on sets a font of its own and nothing was overriding it
  • Changing UI theme no longer resets your interface font. Switching theme quietly put the font back to the default and left it there until you picked a font again or restarted the app
  • Node labels on the canvas were reset by that same thing, and are fixed along with it
  • The pop-out note, controls and Filamental AI windows open in your chosen font instead of the default. They had never read the setting at all
  • Every font offered for node labels is now offered for the interface too. The two pickers had drifted apart, so Gruppo, Grotesk, Syne and Cardo could be used on the graph but not on the interface

  • Publisher: paste a YouTube, Vimeo or Loom link onto an empty line and it becomes a player. Drag its edge to resize it, centre it, or drop it into a column like any other block
  • Publisher: a linked video survives an export or a shared link, because the player is fetched rather than carried in the file. A video file still cannot travel that way, and now says so properly when you export or share
  • Publisher: a link pasted into the middle of a sentence reads as the title of the page it points at, rather than as a long address that tells the reader nothing
  • Help has its own entry at the foot of the Projects sidebar, next to a link to the tutorial videos on our YouTube channel. It used to sit under the project grid, below whatever you were actually working on, where it was easy never to notice
  • Project card captions are readable. They were tinted so faintly that they measured under 3:1 against the card in every theme
  • Help: a new "Inserting Media" page covering the four ways to get a picture or a video onto a page, and which of them survive being handed to somebody else

  • "Frameworks" are now "Templates". The same ready made structures, under a name that explains itself the first time you meet it
  • Attaching several files at once now keeps all of them. Only one was being registered, so the rest quietly disappeared from the panel
  • Attachment filenames follow your theme’s colours instead of a fixed blue, and files you have already attached sit above the drop zone rather than below it
  • Publisher: a link at the foot of a page now carries its connector’s label in front of the page name, so it reads "gated by Change of Control Clause" instead of just the title. Shared and exported pages carry the labels too, so re-share anything you want them on
  • Publisher: the footer and the cover image buttons now take the page’s Title colour, so they stay readable against a dark canvas or a photograph. Borders and hover states down there had assumed a pale background and were invisible on anything else

  • "Note Nodes" is now "Node Pages", which is what everyone called them anyway
  • A node’s identity number has moved out of the panel header and down into Metadata, alongside the rest of its structured detail. Still one click to copy
  • The Space and Publisher switcher now lines up with the 2D and 3D control beneath it, instead of sitting a few pixels off
  • Panel and toolbar corners follow one scale per theme now. They used to drift between two and eight pixels depending on which control you happened to be looking at
  • Reporting a bug now goes to one place instead of two. The in-app bug form has been retired, since it had no counterpart anywhere else. Feature requests are untouched and still sit in Settings under Feedback
  • Help: the Shortcuts page no longer claims macOS is on the roadmap. It shipped a while ago, auto-update and all, and everything on that page works there
  • Help: dropped a section describing a Folders tab that has no way to open it

v0.3.31

  • Shared documents now draw their connectors on big graphs. Past a certain size the lines were being clipped away entirely, so the node cards arrived but nothing joining them did. Documents you shared before today carry the old viewer with them, so re-share any that look bare
  • Labels and legends are readable over light backgrounds again, both in the app and in a shared document
  • Publisher: search Pexels and drop a photo straight into the body of a page from the slash menu, the same way cover images already worked
  • Publisher: the Forces controls now sit on the graph toolbar, so a page’s layout can be tuned without leaving it
  • Connectors and arrowheads no longer quietly disappear after switching between projects a few times

v0.3.30

  • Free plan now allows unlimited projects. In exchange, each project is capped at 20 nodes instead of 50, but the cap is no dead end: insert a bridge node and carry straight on in a new, linked project, nothing needs deleting
  • Bridge nodes (jumping between projects) are free on every plan now
  • Publisher Studio is a Pro feature. Everything else on the free plan keeps working exactly as before
  • If you skipped registering on first launch, you’re offered it again when your trial ends, alongside the choice to go Pro. Declining still lets you straight through, no pressure either way
  • Fixed low-contrast text and icons on Pro-upgrade buttons and selection checkmarks against the Volt and Void themes' bright accent colours

  • Added send a connection briefing so no skill file needs installing
  • Added add extract_section and inline_section structural refactors

  • Nodes now stay exactly where you put them. Arranging a world by hand and coming back to it later, switching worlds, or restarting the app no longer collapses your layout back into a clump. Adding or editing a note leaves everything else where it was
  • New nodes are still placed for you, so a file dropped into your vault folder or a node created by the AI still lands somewhere sensible without pushing anything else around
  • Dark Energy, Layers, 2D and 3D, Gravity, Expansion and Reset all rearrange your world exactly as before. Those are now the only things that move your nodes
  • Fixed arrangements being lost when reopening a world. In some cases the saved layout was overwritten before it had even been read, so the work was gone for good
  • Connector arrows now show as soon as a world opens. Before this they only appeared once you moved or rotated the graph
  • Deleting a connector or a node now updates the view straight away, instead of waiting until you next moved the graph
  • Clicking empty space now clears the highlight on connected connectors, not just on the node itself

v0.3.27

  • Fixed connected pages going missing from the bottom of Publisher pages. A link only showed up if you happened to draw the connector starting from the page you were on, so connectors drawn the other way round were silently left out
  • The links at the bottom of a Publisher page are now grouped into columns by arrow direction: Normal, Outward, Inward and Bidirectional. Columns you are not using are hidden
  • Shared and exported documents get the same grouped links, and no longer drop connectors that were drawn in the opposite direction
  • Fixed the AI assistant and MCP connections being able to set an arrow direction the app cannot draw, which quietly left the connector as a plain line. Bidirectional arrows can now be set by the AI too
  • The AI assistant and MCP tools now describe your connections the way you see them on screen, rather than by which end the connector happened to be drawn from

v0.3.26

  • Added divider line styles in the Publisher: thin, thick, double and squiggle. Right-click a divider to change it. Divider lines now take their colour from your document’s heading colour
  • Added background colours for Publisher blocks. Right-click any block, or a selection of blocks, to apply one. Blocks sitting next to each other that share a colour join into a single panel
  • Publisher formatting is now stored separately from your text, so edits you make to a .md file in any other tool are picked up by the Publisher instead of being overwritten
  • Shared and exported documents now keep column layouts, image captions and checklists, which were previously lost when sharing

  • Fixed Publisher cover images not updating after changing or removing and re-adding them
  • Fixed text selection failing on heading text in the Publisher editor
  • Reduced the spacing above subtitles in Publisher documents so they sit closer to the paragraph they belong to
