Files for Other AIs

Download the Project Assistant and the Format Reference from Settings › AI, add them to your AI as skills or instructions, and any AI knows how Filamental works without being told each time.

Where: Settings (the menu button, top right) › AI › Files for other AIs

What it is

Every route to AI needs the AI to understand what a Filamental project is and how a node file is put together. Filamental AI and apps connected over MCP are briefed for you, with nothing to install. These two files are the same briefing for everything else: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude.ai and other AIs that can't connect to your project, and AIs working in the folder itself (Folder Access).

  • Project Assistant (filamental_SKILL.md) tells an AI how to read and work with Filamental projects: how to design a structure, choose classifications and connectors, and keep it readable.
  • Format Reference (filamental_format_reference.md) is the note file format, for content an AI writes: every field at the top of a node file, how connectors are stored, filenames and the checks a file must pass.

The Project Assistant alone is enough for reading and analysis. Add the Format Reference whenever the AI will write node files.

They're also just readable documents. If you'd like to see how we describe Filamental to an AI, or you'd rather write your own briefing, read them. What We Tell Your AI shows both.

How to use it

  1. Click Download beside Project Assistant, then beside Format Reference, and save the two files.
  2. Add them to your AI. Where your AI takes skills, as Claude's apps do, add each as a skill of its own. In a Claude.ai project, paste the Project Assistant into the project instructions. Anywhere else, paste it at the start of the conversation.
  3. Give it your project. An AI with file access can read the folder (Folder Access). One that can't takes an Export for AI file, attached or pasted.

With the Project Assistant loaded, the AI reads your project's classifications and connectors, gives you a short orientation and asks what you want to do. From there: a gap analysis, new nodes, a briefing, a whole new project from scratch, or any question about the structure.

Tips

  • Reach for these only when you need them. Filamental AI and connected apps don't, and an AI that already has the briefing gains nothing from a second copy.
  • An AI that writes node files by hand can slip. Scan what it produces, and check every connector points at a node that exists.

How this helps you

Use it when the AI you trust lives in a browser tab: a work account with ChatGPT or Gemini, or Claude.ai on the web. Install the briefing once, attach an export, and that AI can work with your project almost as well as a connected one, and keep doing so across conversations and across tools.
