Filamental works with the AI you already use, in two ways: Filamental AI, a chat window inside Filamental that runs on your own provider, or an outside AI app such as Claude Desktop, connected to your project so it can work on it from its own window.
Both are live: the AI reads your project, adds nodes, draws connectors and writes notes while you watch. All of it is on the free plan, and it runs on your own account or your own computer, so nothing passes through us.
How to get there: the sparkle button in the top bar opens Filamental AI. Settings › AI connects an outside app.
If your AI can't reach your computer at all, as with most web chats, Export for AI and Side-by-Side with Any AI still work, and Files for Other AIs teaches it the format.
Every node is a plain Markdown file with its classification, properties and connectors written in, so an AI reading it gets what things are and how they relate, not just text. We call this incidental organisation: you use Filamental for the work you already have, and the organisation happens on the way.
