There are two places you can write in Filamental: a node's notes in Right Panel (Notepad), and a page in Publisher Studio: Basics. Both take media, but the page editor takes more of it, because a page is meant to leave the app and a note is not.
Everything below starts with the slash menu. Type / on an empty line and pick from the Media group.
/Image opens your file picker. Works in notes and on pages. You can also paste an image straight from the clipboard, or drag one in from a folder.
The file is copied into the space, not linked from where it was sitting, so moving or deleting the original later does not empty the hole in your document.
/Image from Pexels searches free stock photography and drops the result straight in. Pages only. The same search is behind the cover image picker at the top of a page, and behind the canvas backgrounds in Settings.
/Video takes an mp4 or a webm from your file picker. Works in notes and on pages, and plays where it sits.
A video file cannot leave with the document. Exported pages and shared links carry their text and their images, but a video file is too big to travel that way, so it arrives as a placeholder instead. You are warned before either happens. If the video needs to survive the trip, use a link instead.
/Video from a link embeds a video that lives on YouTube, Vimeo or Loom. Pages only.
Quicker still: paste the video's address onto an empty line and it turns into a player on its own. A player is a block like any other, so you can drag its right edge to resize it, centre it with the alignment buttons, and drop it into a column beside something else. The shape stays 16:9 whatever width you choose, so nothing ever ends up stretched.
Because the video is fetched from YouTube rather than carried in the file, this is the one kind of video that survives an export or a shared link. Whoever opens the document needs to be online to watch it, which is the trade.
If the address carries a start time, the player keeps it and begins there.
Paste an address in the middle of a line and you get an ordinary link, not a player. On a page, Filamental looks the address up and shows the real title of whatever is at the other end, so your sentence reads "as covered in the Space Studio walkthrough" rather than breaking off into a long string of characters that tells the reader nothing. If the lookup fails, the address itself is used and the link still works.
Notes keep the address as you pasted it. They are working surfaces rather than finished ones, and a note is usually written for the one person who already knows what the link is.
Attaching a file to a node is a different job, and it lives in the Attachments section of the right panel. Use it for the source material behind a node, a contract or a spreadsheet, rather than for something you want to appear in the middle of a page.
