Report a Bug or Request a Feature

Found a problem? The bug button in the top bar opens an email to us. Got an idea? Request a feature, in Settings, sends it our way. A person reads both.

Why it matters

We don't track what you do in the app, so we've no way of knowing something's broken, or missing, unless you tell us. Your reports are how Filamental gets better.

Reporting a bug

  1. Click the bug button, at the top right beside the AI button.
  2. Your email app opens a new message to [email protected], with the subject already filled in.
  3. Say what happened, what you expected instead, and what you were doing just before. A screenshot helps enormously.
  4. Send it.

If no email app is set up on your computer, the button may not open anything. Write to [email protected] from wherever you do your email instead.

Requesting a feature

  1. Open Settings (the hamburger icon, top right) and go to About.
  2. Under Feedback, click Request a feature.
  3. A short form opens in your web browser. Tell us what you'd like Filamental to do, and why it would help.

What makes a good report

  • The version you're on, which is in Settings, under About.
  • Your computer: Windows, Mac or Linux.
  • Steps to make it happen again, if you can find them. A bug we can repeat is a bug we can fix.
  • For an idea, the problem it solves matters more than how you'd build it, since we might find another way there.

What happens next

Major changes are discussed once a week, and updates go out as soon as they're ready. We can't promise every request makes it in, but every one is read.

What it doesn't do

  • Nothing is sent by itself. There's no crash reporting and no tracking, so nothing reaches us unless you send it.
  • Your project isn't attached. Only what you put in the email or the form reaches us, so leave out anything private.
