Open Settings › Appearance and click a theme, and the menus, panels and toolbars change to it at once.

What it is

A theme styles Filamental's own interface: the toolbars, panels, buttons and menus around your work. It's separate from the backdrop behind the graph, which is under Backgrounds, so a dark working panel and a light canvas (or the other way round) sit together happily. Pressed buttons and highlights across the interface take the theme's own accent colour.

We've got a bit of a space theme going on, and we know it's not to everyone's taste, so we like to have fun with it. Themes are light work for us to make, so new ones tend to arrive with updates.

How to use it

Click any swatch. Each shows its toolbar, sidebar and accent colours, and a tick marks the one in use.

  • Clarity: cool blue-grey and spacious, with borders you barely see.
  • Workshop: light industrial utility, with a burnt-orange accent and a charcoal bottom bar.
  • Void: deep-space dark, with purple-tinted glass panels and an electric cyan accent. It suits the space backgrounds.
  • Vogue: soft black-and-white editorial, where the only colour comes from your connectors and classifications.
  • Volt: neon chartreuse toolbars on near-black.
  • Foyer: warm neutrals, oak tones and a muted green accent.
  • Precision: our own, and the one a new project starts on. A light cool grey, square corners, no shadows, and red used only where something needs pointing at.

Tips

  • Filamental remembers the theme for each project on this computer, so different projects can wear different themes. A project you open for the first time starts on Precision.
  • Fonts are their own setting, under Settings › Fonts, and survive a change of theme. See Settings.
  • Pop-out note windows and the Filamental AI window follow the theme too.
  • Publisher pages have their own colours and fonts, set in Page Style.

How this helps you

Use a calm light theme for close work in daylight, a dark one for an evening or a dim room, and Precision when Filamental is on a client's screen and should look sober. Giving each project its own theme also tells you at a glance which one you're in.
