Whoever opens your shared link or HTML file gets the whole document in their browser: the graph, every page, and a way to present it, with nothing to install and no account to make. Where: a shared link or downloaded HTML file, in any browser
What it is
The viewer is the document as your reader meets it. It's the same structure and the same pages you built, in the style you chose, so they see the work the way you saw it. It's the same whichever plan you're on.
How it works on a computer
The graph takes two thirds of the window and the page sits beside it, opening on your hub page. Drag the edge between them to resize either side.
- Click a node to open its page and light it and its connections. Click empty space to clear the highlight and see the whole structure at full brightness again.
- Drag to turn the graph, scroll to zoom, and use the arrow keys to move the camera.
- Each page shows its cover, title and subtitle, the text with your panels, columns and dividers, and the footer: ← Home, then the connected pages grouped by direction, each with its connector's label in front.
- Attached files are listed under the page with their size, ready to download, when you included them.
The buttons on the graph:
- Recentre on hub: brings the camera back to the home page.
- Orbit around the graph: the camera circles the structure once.
- Hide page panel / Show page panel: gives the graph the whole window, or brings the page back.
- Present: fills the screen and turns the structure slowly for a room. N, M, comma and full stop work as they do in the app, the wheel or a pinch moves closer and further, and Esc (or leaving full screen) ends it. See Present.
How it works on a phone
On a narrow screen the graph fills the screen and still turns, zooms and pans by touch. Tap a node and its page opens over the graph. The Close button (×) at the top takes the reader back to the graph, just where they left it.
Password-protected links
A locked link opens on "This document is password protected." with a Password box and Unlock. The page is decrypted in the reader's own browser once the password is right.
Tips
- The graph shows Cards or Stars, curved connectors and their colours as you had them when you shared, and the text size from Publisher's Smaller text / Larger text buttons.
- A shared link always carries your graph background. An HTML file carries it only with Reduce file size switched off (see HTML Download).
- Properties stay in your project. They aren't included in a shared link or an HTML file.
- A highlight or a Pathfinder route you have on in the app doesn't travel. The reader starts on the whole structure.
- A video file shows "Some video content in this page is not available in this export." A video from a link plays as normal (see Inserting Media).
- Some apps open links in a built-in browser that can't draw the graph. The viewer says so and suggests opening the link in the phone's own browser.
How this helps you
Send it to a client who'll open it on a phone between meetings, to a board that'll put it on the big screen without you there, or to anyone you'd like to see the shape of the thinking as well as the pages.
