Plans: Free and Pro

Filamental runs as full Pro for your first 15 days, then carries on as the free plan, which keeps everything you need to think, build and make your work look right.

Where: Settings › Account › Plan

What it is

Our line is that thinking and making are free, and the ways of putting the work in front of somebody else are what Pro is for. The free plan still keeps one of those ways, so you can send somebody a finished document without paying us anything.

Our aim is to give you a genuinely good free product forever.

Your first 15 days

Every new installation runs on full Pro for 15 days, with nothing to enter or activate. Settings › Account shows Pro trial while it lasts.

When the 15 days are up, a screen lays the free plan and Pro side by side. Go Pro opens our pricing page, I have a licence key activates one there and then, and the free plan is one click away. Nothing you built is deleted or locked away, and your files stay exactly where they always were.

If you haven't left your first name and email, choosing the free plan asks once more. It's skippable, and skipping it costs you nothing at all.

What stays free

  • Unlimited projects, each holding up to 20 nodes. Bridges don't count toward that.
  • The whole Publisher Studio: writing, styling and laying out documents.
  • One shared link at a time.
  • Backgrounds, including your own images and videos, and Pexels.
  • Everything else: templates, imports, Filamental AI and connected AI apps, Export for AI, the workspace image, UFO Spin, and the Help Playground, which has no cap at all.

Whoever opens your shared link sees all of it, presenting included, on any plan.

What Pro adds

  • No node cap, in any project.
  • More than one live shared link.
  • Updating a shared link in place with Push latest changes, so the address people already have keeps working.
  • HTML download of a whole document as one file.
  • Presentation mode: the Present studio, and presenting from Publisher.

When you reach a limit

A full project. Adding a 21st node opens This project is full. Insert bridge node opens Create a folder bridge: pick another project's folder and a bridge node joins the two, so you keep going without deleting anything. It just becomes two projects instead of one crowded one. Go Pro opens our pricing page.

A second shared link. With a link already live, the Share window offers See Pro, which opens You already have a shared link. Remove the old link to share again. That's also how you send changes on the free plan, at a new address.

Downloads and presenting. Download in the Share window opens Downloads are part of Pro, and presenting opens Presenting is part of Pro.

Tips

  • A project holding more than 20 nodes, built during the trial say, keeps every one, and you can still edit, connect and arrange them. Only adding more waits for a bridge or Pro.
  • A Document or Folder Exploration runs to the end however many nodes it makes; the cap applies again afterwards.
  • Links published during the trial stay live for their full 180 days. The free plan can't push updates to them, but you can remove them whenever you like. We're not going to leave something of yours online that you can't take down.
  • Backgrounds are the biggest download we ship, so we may one day split them into optional packs. They'll stay free; you'd just choose when to download them.

How this helps you

  • Use a bridge when a project fills up and the subject has a natural seam to split along.
  • Go Pro when sending work out becomes routine: a link for each client, a document you keep correcting at the same address, or a room to present to.
