The welcome tour is a short walk around Filamental that runs the first time you open it. It points at each part of the screen in turn, says what it's for, and then leaves you to it.
Why you'd use it
The first time, so you know where things live. After that it's a quick refresher, or a way to show someone else around without having to explain it all yourself.
Starting it again
- Open Settings (the hamburger icon, top right).
- Under General, find Getting started.
- Click Replay tour.
Settings closes and the tour starts from the beginning.
Getting around it
- Next, the right arrow or the space bar moves on, and Back or the left arrow goes back.
- Skip, or Escape, ends it at any point.
- A couple of steps ask you to press something, such as the switch to the Publisher. Press it yourself, or use the card's own button to do it for you.
What it covers
It starts in the Space Studio, with your projects, the two studios, the left panel with its classifications, connectors and properties, the node panel on the right, 2D and 3D, templates, the auto layouts, the live physics and Settings.
Then it takes you over to the Publisher Studio for formatting and Page style, sharing and presenting, brings you back, and finishes by asking you to press Dark Energy.
Tips
- The tour runs on whichever project you have open. The Help Playground, which you're reading now, is a good place to take it, since you can't break anything here.
- Hover over any button afterwards and its tooltip says what it does. There are a lot of them, on purpose.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't change your project, apart from the Dark Energy press at the end, which rearranges it the way Dark Energy always does (Ctrl+Z puts it back).
- It's a tour of where things are, not a lesson in building a structure. For that, start with About & Welcome and Graph.
