This is where we write things about Filamental.
Most of it is useful, some of it anecdotal, and the rest could generously be called musings.
You don't need to do everything all at once.
2D for working, 3D for understanding.
Click the toggle at the top to flip between them. Start creating some nodes and connecting them, see Graph for the basics and Space Studio for the panels either side of it.
Rename the initial node categories ("Type 1 + 2") early on. Just get used to creating and filing nodes.
Change the views as you go: 2D & 3D, Dark Energy & Layers, show/hide panels. Structures evolve, so does your way of working. Find the balance that suits you. See Graph Navigation and Shortcuts.
As this is a young product we've put a lot of tooltips in to explain buttons. Filamental can look daunting on first use, it isn't, it becomes intuitive after a couple of sessions (we've tested this on far less capable people than you).
We fully expect 1-star reviews or 5-star reviews.
Filamental isn't for everyone, we know that, you know that, it's self-selecting.
For some people, the conceptual thinking just never "clicks." We aren't apologising for this, you can't please everyone all the time. It works perfectly well as a simple flowchart app with fancy backgrounds too, and that's fine.
We'd love you to pay for the Commercial/Pro licence, but the Personal edition is really good too. We wanted the free offering to be genuinely worth keeping on your machine even if you only open it once a year. Full details: Account & Billing.
Tell us when you find problems or want features. We don't track what you do in the app, so we need you to tell us how to improve. We don't pay much attention to social media either (mostly used for new user acquisition), so talking to us here is the best way to be heard.
How it works: you fill in the feedback form, it becomes a task on our ClickUp board. Local filters strip out abuse/scams. Tasks go to the most suitable engineer. Major changes are discussed once a week, updates are pushed once a week (maximum, unless urgent).
Our users span a wide range of sectors and are, frankly, vastly talented. We value your input enormously and can't do this without you.
Credit where it's due, these people are astonishingly talented and provided much of the artwork and imagery:
Colin Jones, Begum Koca, Nicola Narracci, Michael Herren, Adis Resic, Boris Zaitsev, Jirawat Plekhongthu, Ai Beast, Siraphol Siricharattakul, Bolea Ionela Larisa.
Anyway, have fun and thanks for being a part of this,
Cosimo
