Graph Navigation

How to actually move around the canvas. For the full key/mouse reference table, see Shortcuts, this page is the "what it feels like and why" version.

Trackpad

  • 2-finger pan up/down/left/right
  • Drag to rotate
  • Pinch to zoom

Works great with a touchscreen too, if your laptop has one.

Mouse & Keyboard

  • WASD (gamer-style) or Arrows to fly around
  • Mouse + scroll/zoom
  • Generally you can click away or press Escape to return to normal from any mode.

Show/hide & resize panels

O and P toggle the left and right panels. T toggles text (privacy mode, handy for screen-sharing). G toggles the grid. Drag the panel edges to resize them, and you can pop a node's notes out to its own window to put on a second screen.

Find

Searches titles and note text for keywords, the fastest way to jump straight to a node in a large world.

Flip button

Flips connector arrowheads/labels to the top (or back), purely a personal preference toggle, doesn't change anything structurally.

Undo / Redo / Refresh

You can undo 20+ actions. We wanted everything to be undoable so you're never stuck. Incidentally, nothing is ever truly "deleted," it goes to your recycle bin.

Refresh fixes most glitches. Very occasionally the canvas might visually stutter; refresh gives it a nudge to wake back up.

360° View

A fun way to see your world from the inside, a bit of a novelty, but nice combined with screen recording (Shift+Win+R).

Image & Drone Export

Both live as buttons in the bottom toolbar, next to the other view controls.

  • Export image: one click, instant static screenshot of whatever the canvas currently shows, saved as a JPG. No settings, no dialog. For a quick copy-paste instead of a saved file, Shift+Win+S usually does the job.
  • Export drone video: opens a settings dialog first (duration, frame rate, resolution, and whether it orbits your current selection or the whole scene), then records a scripted camera flythrough to video (MP4/webm). There's also a "drone preview" button that plays the flythrough live in the canvas without recording anything, handy for rehearsing the shot first. Useful for presentations, or for showing off the shape/complexity of a world without disclosing what's actually in it.

Both are general graph features available everywhere, not just in Publisher Studio: Basics

Mobile & touch

We aren't building a dedicated mobile app right now, on a small screen it's hard to see what a "build" experience would even look like. There's a reasonable case for an iPad/tablet viewer, and an even more fun case for VR/AR, but neither is scheduled. Touch input on a touchscreen laptop already works today via the trackpad-style gestures above.
