Page style is how the whole document looks: the font, the size of the text, how wide the page is, and the colours. Set it once and it applies to every page in the project, and to everything you share or download from it.
Why you'd use it
Formatting a word or a paragraph is one job. Making a document look like it belongs to you, or to your client, is another, and it shouldn't mean restyling every page by hand. Page style keeps that second job in one place.
Opening it
- In the Publisher, open any page.
- Click Page style, on the right of the bar above the page.
- Change whatever you like. Every change shows straight away, in the preview inside the window and on the page itself.
- Click Done. There's no Save, because nothing is waiting to be saved.
You can drag the window aside by its header, and the page behind it stays live, so you can scroll and click while you work.
What you can set
Text
- Font: one font for the whole document.
- Size: Small, Medium or Large. Headings and the gaps between paragraphs scale with it, so the page keeps its proportions.
Layout
- Page width: Narrow, Standard or Wide.
Around the page
- Backdrop: what sits behind the page and its title. A solid colour, a gradient, or a photo from Pexels, which you can search from right there.
- Title & subtitle: the colour of the page name, which sits on the backdrop.
- Paper: the colour of the sheet your content sits on.
On the page
- Headings: every heading level and the dividers, in a solid colour or a gradient.
- Body text: paragraphs, lists, quotes and tables.
Reset palette puts the colours back to how they started, and leaves the font, size and width alone.
Tips
- Set the backdrop and the paper first, then the text colours against them. The window runs from the outside in for that reason.
- The title sits on the backdrop rather than the paper, so check it against a dark backdrop.
- Wide suits tables and pages in columns, while Narrow reads more like a letter.
- Share links and downloaded HTML files use the same page style, so what you see is what your reader gets (see Publisher Studio: Sharing).
What it doesn't do
- It's one style for the whole project. Pages can't each have their own.
- It doesn't format text. Bold, colour on a word, alignment and links are on the toolbar that appears when you select text, and paragraph styles are on the left of the bar above the page (see Publisher Studio: Basics).
- It doesn't change the Space Studio or the app's theme. Those are in Settings (see Top Bar).
